Beautiful and rare handmade ceramic wall clock by Irish ceramicist Maxine Mearns, Courtmacsherry, County Cork. Original Limited Edition piece, No. 55 of 100, signed and incised to reverse. Large example: 37cm diameter, approx. Fully working, with battery coco mechanism quartz movement and original black steel hands.

Influenced by the Memphis Group aesthetic (Ettore Sottsass, Peter Shire) - a striking piece of 1980s design history. Features geometric motifs, rich glaze textures, and the distinctive domed profile Maxine Mearns became known for. Her work is part of major Irish collections including the Limerick City Gallery. In beautiful original, perfect condition with no chips, cracks or restoration. Mechanism tested and working well.

Comes from my personal collection, owned since August 1998. An extremely rare and collectable example of Irish modernist studio ceramics.
