Irene Dogmatic (Nancy Maass Mosen) is an American visual & performance artist, musician & writer who has been active since 1972. Her work has been published in Esquire, New York Woman, Elle Decor and House and Garden magazines. Dogmatic was an early friend and collaborator of band The Residents. In 1980 Irene Dogmatic sent out a picture of herself in leopard skin underwear & asked people to make paper dolls for herself as the doll & to send the results back to her for a compilation. All participants received a photo-copied, bound, contributor's copy of all the submitted works. This copy is hand-signed: Dear T. Here tiz - wear it in good health - Irene Dogmatic. See photos of contributrors pages. Irene Dogmatic actively started her career as Nancy Maass Mosen in 1972. Being both a visual and performance artist in San Francisco in the early 1980's she was the singer of 1978 Bay Area Punk Band SST whose single was released on Tidal Wave Record. She also collaborated with The Residents. Known to Residents fans as an early friend of the group, and for her appearance in the unfinished feature film Vileness Fats. She also created artwork for the limited edition Third Reich'n Roll edition, released in 1980.
