Very Rare Limited Edition - Harrods Annual Bear (2016) - Basil Rubython. Harrods have been producing a Christmas Bear each year since 1986. These bears are well known and well loved by those lucky enough to own one. However, Harrods also produce an Annual Bear, a jointed bear, often depicting an aspect of Harrods' history. In 2016 the Harrods Annual Bear was named after Basil Rubython who was head of Personal Tailoring at Harrods.

In particular, Harrods wanted to celebrate Basil's achievements at the 1960 annual Tailor and Cutter Exhibition, held in London's Park Lane Hotel in May 1960. It was at this Exhibition that Basil Rubython and his team won four awards. Basil credited his team rather than himself! Harrods produced this honey coloured, jointed bear, resplendent in his navy uniform complete with his tape measure around his neck. His left foot is embroidered with the Harrods logo and date (2016) and the right pad has'The Annual Bear' embroidered in gold.

He has the Harrods date button on his left paw. This bear is in excellent condition showing no signs of wear or fading. He is still securely attached to the display box. The box is practically perfect, except for a little wear to the front left corner and a slight crease to the side panel - please see the photos. Apart from this small amount of wear, this bear looks just as he did when he left the shop.

Do not confuse this bear with the sometimes seen 2016 Tailor Bear, I believe the Basil Rubython Bear, to be the much more sought after bear. Harrods says the following about Basil Rubython Bear. "Named after Basil Rubython - head of Harrods Personal Tailoring in the 1960s - this year's annual bear wears only the finest threads". This bear comes from a smoke-free environment and sits 13 high. I will only post my bears in a box, so that they arrive with you in the condition they leave me.
