This is the First Illustrated Edition, an important distinction to remember. Hardcover with its original dust jacket, NOT price-clipped! Published by Scribners: New York, 1952.

Gold gilt on the top edge pages. Once again, please remember this is the First Edition/First Printing of this title. This rare treasure has some very clearly visible wear, mainly to the dust jacket, but is still in lovely, Highly Collectible condition! The book appears gently read and has no internal writing, no internal foxing, no missing pages and is NOT Ex-Libris or a BCE.

The binding is tight and the pages are still surprisingly crisp and clean! Some general/shelf wear along with wear to the spine/corners/cloth boards and marks/wear to the edge/fore pages, NOT affecting the text. Please note the wear to the spine/corners/cloth boards, particularly noticeable along the edges. While not terribly egregious, the wear is still clearly visible and should be carefully examined/considered. The original dust jacket is fully intact and NOT price-clipped but has extensive wear!

Some general/shelf wear along with creases, chipping, marks and numerous, large rips. There are also numerous pieces of clear tape on the inside of the dust jacket! Please note the wear on the spine, at the corners and near/along the edges! In particular, please note the numerous, large rips on the rear of the jacket!

We purposely and closely photographed this area from various angles in an effort to fully capture the extent of the wear. All of the wear, but particularly the rips, is extensive and VERY clearly visible! The wear should be carefully examined/considered. We tend to grade the condition of our books rather harshly and took into consideration any and all wear when determining the value of this rare book. Our VERY LOW asking price is a reflection of that consideration and if the dust jacket was in better condition our asking price would be considerably higher.
