Struwwelpeter, a merry card game for good children. 32 playing cards for children depicting characters from Heinrich Hoffmans's book Struwwelpeter with text from the book on each card.

Following closely to Hoffman's book, the cards were probably made by the firm of Dorndorf in Germany in 1888, when they were imported to Great Britain by A. N Myers of Berners Street, London. Only one complete set with the original box is known which is in the Museum of Childhood in Edinburgh. As far as we can tell it's a card collecting game similar to Happy Families. The sets are: The Story of Cruel Frederick; The Dreadful Tale of Harriet and Her Matches; The Story of the Inky Boys; The Story of the Man Who Went Out Shooting; The Story of Augustus Who Would Not have Any Soup; The Story of Johnny Head in Air; The Story of Flying Robert; The Story of Little Suck-a-Thumb and The Story of Fidgety Phillip.

Sadly, cards 1 & 2 from the tale of Suck-a-Thumb and The Story of Fidgety Philip are missing. Overall good condition, they have been played with and loved in the past showing one or two light creases but nothing that detracts from the charm of the illustrations.
